Groundbreaking Kings of Serial Sean Platt and David W. Wright are Saying Thanks With Free Kindle Fire Giveaway! Authors Sean Platt and David W. Wright, of the post-apocalyptic serial “Yesterday’s Gone,” are saying thank you to their fans with a free Kindle Fire giveaway which starts this week. “The readers have been so supportive of us and have allowed us to make a living doing what we love doing, writing fiction. We decided to spend a bit of our royalty checks this month on a Kindle Fire,” said Platt. The writing duo are publishing a book (or episode as they call them) per week in 2012 in efforts to become ‘Kings of the Serial,’ via their publishing company, Collective Inkwell. “Dickens may have been the most well-known author to do serials, but we cut our teeth on Stephen King’s ‘The Green Mile,’” said David Wright of their inspiration to create serialized fiction. “The way King managed to suck you into the world he created and keep you in suspense from month to month was nothing short of amazing. I knew right then and there that serialization was something I had to do.” Wright and Platt didn’t bother pursuing a traditional publishing deal, however, figuring that no publisher in the world would commit to a serialized story from two unknowns. Thanks to everybody who entered  the Collective Inkwell Creative Fiction Contest! You wrote some great stories.  Judging them was difficult, which is why we enlisted the help of two other bloggers to help score them. We each read the stories and graded them on a scale of 1-10 and took the top three numbers to determine our winners. Like I said, picking the best of the great was tough! Are you a creative blogger? Would you like to win a pimped out Premium WordPress Thesis Theme? Then we’ve got the contest for you. We LOVE writing here at Collective Inkwell. We love all kinds of writing, but we love fiction the most. Stories that move, amaze, and scare; make you laugh, cry, or FEEL IT IN YOUR MARROW – we love them all! From the comments and emails received so far, we feel like we’ve hit on something special here with our celebration of inspiration and creativity. Nothing excites us more than kicking our first week off with a giant creative writing project/contest. Here’s the deal. We’ll give you two prompts to choose from. Sentence A and Sentence B, each provided by one of us. You pick one of the sentences and build a story from it! The contest will start today and run until Friday May 1st. The following week, we’ll announce three winners, hand picked by our panel of four bloggers. The Rules This contest is open to bloggers of any age who keep a regular and open-to-the-public blog.
