At last I can catch up on reading. I'm really getting into Baldwin. I like the way you give just enough information without overloading.

Trina - Thanks for the comments. Yes, both men are haunted. I like the parallels in this story - what I've hinted at and things not yet known.

For this story, I did some research and talked to a few people in law enforcement to make sure the story seems to take place at least within the realm of possibility. It's not too complex, though. Someday, I'd like to do a more historical type of novel, but first I want to perfect my fiction telling voice.

Oh yeah, we're mean like that. Originally, this chapter was going to end before the change to the hotel room, but we then added a few hundred more words.

If you burn down the house can you just be sure to tell the news reporters what it was that had you so captivated? That would be great publicity. :) Thanks!

Part of my heart aches for Baldwin, but he's poppin Percocets like Tic Tacs, and regretting past sins...hmmmm.
I'm often intrigued by back ground knowledge that writers need posess to make their work plausible. Research, gut and talent all play I role I suspect. I am still left with a fragment from Ch 8 (I believe) which struck me as brilliant - the reference to the delicate dusting off as it relates to meticulous fossil care.
Anyhow, another good week and our two main men are missing what may have made them whole, hmmm.

My least favorite part of this story: "TO BE CONTINUED..."

Attention Lost addicts: Looking for something to drive you crazy from one week to the next? Something that makes you feel like you're Wile E. Coyote hanging from the edge of a cliff by a rapidly loosening twig? Something that will take the place of your favorite show until it reappears in 2010? Then park yourselves right here every Friday for the next installment of Available Darkness.

Randi’s last blog post..Thoughts of a Twitterless Thinker
