Dark Crossings Double Feature: Rites of Passage Now Available on Amazon

We’re HUGE fans of short stories here at Collective Inkwell. We’ve been reading them since we were kids, and publishing them since 2011. We started Dark Crossings as our short story moniker to pay homage to shows like The Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Outer Limits and Tales from the Darkside. So in 2016, we’re publishing a new Dark Crossings Double Feature every other month. Sean and I will each write a short story and publish them together, with author notes, exclusively at Amazon (find out more on why in this post). DARK CROSSINGS DOUBLE FEATURE: RITES OF PASSAGE (Note: One of the stories, Rites of Passage, was available to Sterling and Stone prime members last year. So if you were a member then, you already have the first story. The second story, The Room, is brand new. Both are new to Amazon, though.)   Buy today at Amazon. Amazon UK DARK CROSSINGS DOUBLE FEATURE: RITES OF PASSAGE (TWO SHORT STORIES IN ONE DOUBLE FEATURE!) RITES OF PASSAGE In the year 2138, humans live behind walled Cities under strict government control. Dark Crossings Double Feature: Rites of Passage

We’re HUGE fans of short stories here at Collective Inkwell. We’ve been reading them since we were kids and writing them since 2011. We started Dark Crossings as our short story moniker to pay homage to shows like The Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Outer Limits and Tales from the Darkside. But they’ve always had a limited audience compared to our series and standalone books. Part of that, I think, is because of the price. Three bucks is a bit too much for one short story (save for something novella length). But .99 knocks us down to a 35% royalty at Amazon. So we came up with an idea — a Dark Crossings Double Feature. Two stories, one from Sean and one from me (Dave), along with Authors’ Notes for about $1.50 per story — or $2.99 a book. But the only way I think this will really work is if we put the short stories into KDP Select (meaning the stories will be exclusive to Amazon for a while). Our shorts haven’t sold well on the other platforms to date, and it makes no sense putting them everywhere for the few people who might want them. Not when we could be getting the promotion that comes with being Amazon exclusive, promotion which might actually earn back the investment we put into the stories (covers, editing, etc). BUT … we don’t want to alienate our Apple, Kobo, and Nook readers. So here’s what we’re going to do. We’re releasing our first double feature on Gumroad FIRST for a LIMITED TIME. Exclusive until Saturday night (1/16/16). You can pick up Dark...

Z 2135 Cover Reveal and Pre Order

Z 2135 The Darwin Games are over.  The battle for survival has just begun… The Lovecraft family is in ruins. Convict father Jonah roams The Barrens, near starvation, in search of his daughter Ana. Only the hope of seeing her again keeps him alive. Meanwhile Ana, Liam, and Duncan have found temporary relief at a camp outside The Walls. Inside City 6, Jonah’s young son, Adam, has been co-opted by Jonah’s enemy, Chief Keller, and is being groomed as a City Watch spy. Between the terrifying zombies roaming The Barrens—monsters created by the plague that destroyed the Old Nation—and the ruthless, manipulative government that controls everything and everyone within the City Walls, no one is safe. Z 2135 is both a frightening vision of a dystopian future and a heartening tale of family, hope, and humanity. The newest season from Sean Platt and David Wright is as captivating as it is terrifying. Z 2135 begins on August 27 and will be available via Kindle Serials. Buy once at $1.99 and get all six episodes, updated every Tuesday. Z 2135, like all Kindle Serials, is only available in the U.S. right now, but will be available worldwide after its six week run on Kindle Serials. Pre-order now Amazon US: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E80LK8O/ Starting on Wednesday, I’m (Dave) going to be writing a bit about the behind the scenes of writing this season. Our First 47North Kindle Serial, Z 2134, is Now Live!

Our First 47North Kindle Serial, Z 2134, is Now Live!

Hello, fellow Goners, it’s Dave with this week’s newsletter. Last week I told you about our book deal with Amazon Publishing’s 47North to publish two Kindle Serials. Well, the first episode of our first Kindle Serial, Z 2134, is now available in the U.S.! You can download it instantly to your Kindle app or device right now for just $1.99 www.amazon.com/dp/B009KTA8YA/ And while it’s cool for us to sign with 47North, the sci-fi, horror, and fantasy arm of Amazon Publishing, it’s also cool for readers, because when you buy a Kindle Serial, you pay just once, and the episodes are delivered automatically as they’re published. And the price is super cheap — just $1.99 for what is shaping up to be an 80,000 word story (we’re working on the final episode of Season One right now, so we don’t yet have the exact word count). We’ve gotten quite a few questions since we announced Z 2134 was being published, so we’re gonna answer them here. It’s followed by the book’s description in case this is the first you’re reading about Z 2134.   QUESTIONS ANSWERED What if I already bought the original version of Z 2134? Do I have to buy it again?  No. Amazon should have emailed you if you bought it via Amazon.com with instructions on how to get a new version downloaded to your Kindle. If you bought Z 2134 (FROM THE AMAZON.COM U.S. STORE) and didn’t get an email, email me at collectiveinkwellmedia@gmail.com and let me know the email attached to your Kindle account and I will pass it on to Amazon so they can check and take care of you. DO NOT EMAIL YET...
